چکیده
Background and methods We report a case of a giant malignant hemangiopericytoma in the left neck and involving and growing in left internal jugular, left subclvian, left brachiocephalic vein, superior vena cava (SVC) and occupying part of the right atrium. Tumor was causing severe dyspnea, dysphagia and initial SVC syndrome. A 77-year-old male was admitted to our hospital due to progressive dyspnea and dysphagia. Physical examination present large tumor mass in left supraclavicular and neck region with listening a trill. CT scan explain a large tumor mass started in level of hyoid in left side neck that involve deep veins and expand vessels. Tumor have a arterial blood circulation in SVC. Transthoracic echocardiography showed a mass occupying a space of the right atrium originating from the SVC. Cervicosternotomy used for surgical access. After bluntly removed the tumor from the left neck and ligation of the jugular and subclavian vein proceed to the vascular reconstruction. SVC reconstruction was performed between the right brachiocephalic vein and the right atrial appendage with ringed pericardial graft. Atrial part of tumor was shoved into a SVC. Tumor with vena cava was removed after reconstruction.

An Unusual Case of Superior Vena Cava Syndrome Caused by the Intravascular Invasion of an Invasive Thymoma
Superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) is usually caused by extrinsic compression or invasion of the superior vena cava (SVC) by malignant tumors involving mediastinal structures. Although thymomas are well-known causes of SVCS, cases of SVCS caused by malignant thymomas protruding into adjacent vessels draining the SVC with thrombosis have been very rarely reported worldwide. We experienced a 39-y...
متن کاملAtrial Arrhythmia Ablation in Adult Congenital Heart Disease with a Persistent Left-side Superior Vena Cava
We herein report a case of atrial tachycardia (AT) originating from the dilated coronary sinus (CS) connected to a persistent left superior vena cava. The earliest activation site of AT was localized at the superior CS ostium, identified using a novel ultra-rapid high-density mapping system (Rhythmia™). Successful ablation was performed at the corresponding position. This report demonstrated th...
متن کاملConservative management of superior vena cava injury due to hemodialysis catheter placement: A case report and literature review
We reported the case of a 78-year old woman with the inadvertent superior vena cava injury resulting from hemodialysis catheter placement. The catheter was placed through the left internal jugular vein. Hemodynamics were stable. The initial chest film illustrated an extraluminal catheter and mediastinal widening. The patient did not have hemothorax. Computed tomography venography also confirmed...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Malignant Superior Vena Cava Syndrome Using a Stent-Graft
We report successful outcomes after endovascular placement of a stent graft in a 74- and a 77-year-old men, both of whom had malignant superior vena cava syndrome caused by squamous cell carcinoma. In each patient, successful palliation of the malignant superior vena cava syndrome was achieved by placement of a stent graft. No procedure-related complications were observed. The patients were asy...
متن کاملPercutaneous transcatheter device closure of coronary arteriovenous fistula through persistent left superior vena cava.
Congenital coronary artery fistula is a rare malformation that may involve any or all coronary artery branches and any cardiac chamber. Elective closure of coronary artery fistula by surgery or percutaneous transcatheter technique is generally accepted in the presence of symptoms. Controversies exist in the management of asymptomatic patients. We report a case of successful percutaneous transca...
